Single Moms - Single Focus

 

This domestic initiative is helping single Moms in their financial struggles, one small, direct grant at a time. We are a compassion-based assistance program that seeks to stop poverty-related struggles by empowering those in need to overcome barriers and make it to a level where they can reach their potential and take care of their families.

It is our goal to bridge the gap in a crisis situation that might otherwise start a poverty cycle that is hard to escape. Countless single moms face situations where a car repair or a utility bill puts them in a bind, having to choose between food and a working car, or between clothes for a child and electricity or water.

 

With a one-time payment, the cycle of poverty can be broken before it starts. One Ummah Foundation uses the approach of sending single-source grant money directly to the creditor. With this type of support, we envision empowering single Moms to a level where they can thrive. We have a close connection with Dress for Success, a non-profit organization promoting the economic independence of disadvantaged women. They provide a network of support and career development tools along with professional attire with the goal of helping women thrive in work and in life. Our close collaboration with them includes regular symposiums on building self-esteem in women emerging from destitute situations.
